Wine Cooler Installation

We do not offer installation on our products, however, Installing a wine cooler is a relatively straightforward process whether you wish to install a built-in, integrated or freestanding unit.

In this guide, we will show you the steps to ensure the best set-up for your wine cooler in your home or business. Make sure you exercise caution when moving the unit and be careful not to damage your flooring.

Built-In Unit Installation:

You should have the following items:

  • Measuring tape
  • Philips head screwdriver
  • Spirit level (To ensure wine cooler is level)
  • Installation manual (available in product description)

Built-in units require adequate space to allow for ventilation. Ensure the ventilation grilles on all sides are not covered to avoid overheating the unit. If you want to run a skirting board along the front of the unit it must have a grille so the unit can still operate effectively and draw in cool air.

Ensure your wine cooler will be within reach of a power supply. Try not to use an extension cord unless absolutely necessary as this could disqualify any warranties provided. Plug in the unit but wait two hours before switching it on to ensure the coolant inside settles. Refer to the installation manual provided for additional information.

  1. Check for a power supply. Ensure one is nearby.
  2. Measure the space. Use a measuring tape to measure out the area you want the wine cooler to fit. Ensure extra space is provided on the sides, the rear and on the top of the unit for ventilation.
  3. Position the unit inside the space. Plug it in but don't switch it on. If mounting plates are provided, use a screwdriver to secure these to the surrounding cabinet to keep your wine cooler in place.
  4. Ensure the unit is level to stop bottles rolling to one side. Use the adjustable feet to correct this. This can be done by hand.
  5. Leave the unit for two hours before switching the unit on. This allows the coolant inside the unit to settle.

Integrated Unit Installation:

Similar to built-in units, integrated units are designed to slot seamlessly into kitchen cabinetry.

An inlet must be installed in the plinth and a duct for airflow must be present in the cabinetry above the unit.

Follow the installation manual provided with the unit.

Installing an integrated wine cooler involves the following steps:

  1. Measure the space where the wine cooler will be installed to ensure it fits and there is adequate ventilation.

  2. Decide on the location for the wine cooler and make sure it is close to an electrical socket.

  3. Disconnect the electricity supply to the area where the wine cooler will be installed.

  4. Cut the hole in the kitchen cabinet or unit to the correct size, making sure it is level and square.

  5. Insert the wine cooler into the hole, ensuring it is securely in place.

  6. Connect the electrical supply to the wine cooler.

  7. Make sure the wine cooler is level, using the adjustable feet if necessary.

  8. Plug in the wine cooler and set the temperature to the desired level.

  9. Load your wine bottles and enjoy your perfectly chilled wine.

It is important to follow the manufacturer's instructions and guidelines to ensure proper installation and safety. If you are unsure about the installation process, it is recommended to seek the assistance of a professional.

Freestanding Unit Installation:

Our freestanding wine cooler units are designed to stand alone only. They must not be built into kitchen pieces due to ventilation requirements. Some freestanding units may also be suitable for building in if it is clearly stated in the product description on our website.

Allow a minimum of 7 - 12 cm around the sides of the unit including behind and above. This enables air circulation of both cool air and warm air that has been expelled from the unit to. Kitchen cabinets should never be built around the cooler as the cooling process would be impacted.

The image below shows the correct positioning of a freestanding wine cooler.
